About the role:

We are focused on changing the renewable energy industry and as a Software Development Manager, you will be leading a team of passionate developers who are driven to deliver leading-edge products in one of the world’s most important, and fastest-growing industries.

You are:

  • Experienced working with and leading cross-functional software delivery teams
  • Extensively experienced in software architecture and the design of highly scalable web applications
  • Experienced with modern software development practices on your teams including automated testing, refactoring, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
  • Passionate about software development, team management, and collaborating with peers
  • Comfortable with focusing among multiple competing priorities and approaching hard questions through a lens of curiosity 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead one or more software development teams
  • Define, delegate, and track project-level work while ensuring visibility of tasks and projects within the team and department
  • Implement modern software development practices on your teams including automated testing, refactoring, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
  • Mentor, develop, and assess team members, as well as recruit 
  • Collaborate with product managers to provide technical feasibility, specifications, and estimates for project-level work and provide other possible solutions
  • Establish and maintain high standards of security, reliability, scalability, performance, and quality in all delivered projects
  • Delivering software and potentially doing development work 
  • Adopting and refining our best practices, and unblocking the team where required
  • Working with the engineering team on improvement projects - team structure, hiring practices, workflows, and training.

What you’ll need:

  • Proven and demonstrable experience working with and leading cross-functional software delivery teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with any of the following:
  • Data processing pipelines or data engineering
  • SCADA systems
  • Any of the following technologies: Python, Go, SQL, Docker, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Elastic Container Service/Kubernetes, Terraform/Cloudformation, Apache Airflow, CircleCI/Jenkins
  • Computer Science degree or postgraduate study. In lieu of degree, relevant skills, and equivalent experience.
