Problem
A farm owner wanted to sell its stake in part of its wind portfolio. They had historic data on hand, but was unsure how winds speeds, aging technology, and maintenance schedules will impact its long term energy yield. The potential buyer’s energy yield assessment — done by a third-party consultant — was lower than the expected lowering the potential sale price for the asset.
Solution
The client decided to further leverage Clir to justify higher results and challenge the buy-side assumptions. Using the portfolio data on Clir’s platform, alongside peer data from Clir’s 300 GW operational data, the client was able to establish accurate assumptions for operational energy yield assessments. Clir leverages current asset performance, along with implemented and planned optimization opportunities, to provide more precise performance forecasting. This enables robust and defensible project valuations.
